Councillors seek to have train station named after Gately

There are moves being made to have the Docklands train station in Dublin named after the late Stephen Gately.

There are moves being made to have the Docklands train station in Dublin named after the late Stephen Gately.

The Boyzone star - who came from nearby Seville Place - died last October on the holiday island of Majorca in Spain.

Councillors in Dublin, who have passed the motion to have it named after the pop star, will now put the idea to Iarnród Eireann.

Local Councillor Christy Burke has said it would be "a fitting tribute".
