'Desperate Housewives' actress dies

Actress Dixie Carter, who received an Emmy nomination for a guest role on 'Desperate Housewives', has died.

The 70-year-old played Bree Hodge's mother-in-law, Gloria, in the TV series.

Her husband Hal Holbrook is quoted as saying "it's been a terrible blow to the family".
