Piper hoping for big break in the US

Billie Piper wants to “sniff” America for “scraps of work”.

The ‘Secret Diary of a Call Girl’ actress – who has a two-year-old son Winston with her husband Laurence Fox – is about to fly overseas in the hope of landing a part in a US TV show.

She told Britain’s Glamour magazine: “I’m going to sniff out there and see if I can get any scraps of work. I wasn’t going to go up for anything in pilot season because the commitment is seven years and having to move my whole family around just seemed like more hassle than it was worth. I think maybe I should have done it when I was 23. You can’t just up sticks and live selfishly, you have to consider other people – shock, horror.

“But they secretly sent me some scripts and they are really good.”

Although the 27-year-old actress is pleased with the prospect of more work, she is “nervous” she will enjoy life out there so much she will want to stay permanently.

She added: “The TV there is so funny, so witty, so smart, so pacy. But it’s quite frightening, I’m nervous about being seduced by it all as well, like coming home and saying, ‘We’re going to America.’ “
