Carell keen on 'Anchorman' sequel
Steve Carell is “into” the idea of ‘Anchorman 2’.
The 47-year-old actor admits plans are in motion to make a follow-up to the 2004 comedy ‘Anchorman: The Legend of Ron Burgundy’, but says no details of the storyline have yet been approved.
He said: “We’re all absolutely into it happening. The first film was fun. That was really fun to do.
“But they haven’t written a script yet... I don’t think they’ve even decided on a storyline yet.”
The comedic star also claims he spoke with the original movie’s lead actor Will Ferrell just weeks ago about making a second instalment.
He told MTV.com: “I spoke to Will about ‘Anchorman 2’ about two weeks ago. We would all want to do another one.”
The first movie tells the tale of news reporter Ron Burgundy, whose position of power at his workplace is challenged by the arrival of ambitious new female reporter Veronica Corningstone, played by Christina Applegate.
Recently Will confirmed the cast were keen to work on a follow-up to the first film, but scheduling conflicts were putting it on hold.
He said: “I thought we were doing it. I was told it was happening and now I've heard it's going to be too hard to get everyone together.
"Hopefully the director Adam McKay will be able to talk to all the guys individually and see if we can figure it out."
