Charming ‘How to Train Your Dragon’ an excellent film

Cast (Voices): Gerard Butler, Jay Baruchel, Jonah Hill, Craig Ferguson, America Ferrera

Cert: PG

DreamWorks continues to impress with this charmer and with the added bonus of 3-D it works to perfection, even allowing for some of the characters cast very much in the stereotype … but when did Vikings talk with strong Scots accents?

That aside, this story of undersized Hiccup (Baruchel), the young son of fierce Viking leader Stoick (Butler) who desperately wants to impress Dad, and his growing friendship with a young dragon, Toothless, is sure to delight with its brilliant, action-filled images and believable dialogue.

The Vikings are constantly in battle against their ferocious foes, the dragons, and Hiccup longs to get some action. He’s not up to the task, his father thinks, but he manages to down his dragon … but instead of killing him he becomes his best pal.

The message is that Dads should make time for their offspring and humans and other creatures can live together … but the message isn’t rammed home since fun and entertainment and charm are the reasons for not missing this excellent film.
