Anna Faris is to star in a remake of 'Private Benjamin'.
The 33-year-old actress is to take over the role of Judy Benjamin, originally played by Goldie Hawn, in the reimagining of the classic 1980 comedy, which follows a spoilt woman who joins the US army following the death of her husband on their wedding night.
The original movie picked up three Oscar nominations and was one of the biggest-grossing movies of the year on its release.
New Line Cinema is behind the remake, with Amy Talkington in negotiations to script the film and Mark Gordon set to produce, according to The Hollywood Reporter.
'Private Benjamin' joins a number of films New Line Cinema has decided to remake, with 'Police Academy' and 'Vacation' - which originally starred Chevy Chase and John Candy - also in the pipeline.
Anna has a number of films being released in the coming months.
She recently finished shooting the role of Wendy Franklin in comedy drama 'Young Americans' alongside Topher Grace and Michelle Trachtenberg, and is currently recording the voice of Rachel for animated movie 'Yogi Bear' with Justin Timberlake and Dan Aykroyd.
