Corrie star charged with drink driving
'Coronation Street' star Susan Cleaver has been charged with drink-driving, police said today.
The actress, who plays Eileen Grimshaw, was stopped by officers in Northenden, Greater Manchester, in the early hours of yesterday morning.
The 46-year-old was driving a Land Rover Freelander when she was pulled over less than a mile from her home.
She was breathalysed and charged with driving with excess alcohol, police said.
In a statement, Greater Manchester Police said: “A woman has been charged after officers stopped a Land Rover Freelander on Palatine Road, Northenden, shortly after 12.40am on Monday March 29, 2010.
“Susan Cleaver, of The Circuit, Didsbury, was charged with driving with excess alcohol and is due to appear at Manchester City Magistrates’ Court on April 14, 2010.”
Cleaver, who joined the Street in 2000, plays a taxi controller and the mother of Jason and Todd Grimshaw.
She will appear in court two days before actor Ryan Thomas, who plays her son Jason, is due before magistrates for motoring offences.
