Duffy set to stay in Corrie

Keith Duffy has adapted his schedule so he can stay at ‘Coronation Street’.

The actor-and-singer – who is also a member of Boyzone – has dispelled rumours he is leaving the ITV1 soap to focus on his music career and is thrilled he has been able to work out a way to “combine” his pop star career whilst continuing to portray lothario barman Ciaran McCarthy.

He said: “I am happy and very excited to be working on ‘Coronation Street’. I’ve got some great storylines coming up and whilst I do have commitments to Boyzone I have been able to combine the two things very well. I love playing Ciaran!”

While bosses on the show are thrilled to have secured Duffy on the programme, they have also revealed there are no plans for Cilla Black to appear in the Weatherfield-based soap.

A ‘Coronation Street’ spokesperson said: “No approach has been made to Cilla Black about appearing in ‘Coronation Street’. Cilla is incredibly famous and it would be difficult to see how she could appear in ‘Coronation Street’ as a different character.”

Earlier this week the TV star claimed she had been approached by ‘Coronation Street’ bosses several times over the years and was considering working on the show.
