He has melted a few hearts in his time but now movie hunk Robert Pattinson could be the one in danger of melting – after being immortalised in wax.

The 'Twilight' heartthrob became an instant sensation today as his likeness was installed at Madame Tussauds in London.

Fans were queueing to snuggle up to the R-Patz figure, which had the same ghostly pallor as his character, Edward Cullen.

The British actor was honoured with inclusion after the success of his vampire movies which have propelled him to international fame.

Thousands of teenage fans turned out for the London premiere of his latest movie last week.

His figure echoes the rugged style of his 'Twilight' films, dressed in an open-collared shirt and skinny trousers, with tousled hair and a sultry expression.

Fan Katie Sear, 23, from Luton, Bedfordshire, said: “The figure looks really great! Just like him – his hair is spot on.

“It’s amazing, almost like meeting the real thing! I’m sure people are going to love it; he is just gorgeous!”

Tussauds spokeswoman Liz Edwards said: “R-Patz is one of the hottest celebs on the planet. We are delighted to be able to give them (the fans) the chance to cosy up with their idol here at Madame Tussauds and, judging by the reactions of the first to meet him here this morning, he is set to top our most-kissed list of celebrities very quickly.”

The figure took four months to create at a cost of £150,000.

A Pattinson figure is also being launched at Madame Tussauds New York today.
