Former Corrie star Jones to attend rehab
Bruce Jones is going to rehab.
The former ‘Coronation Street’ star admits he has a huge drinking problem and is now seeking the help he needs.
He said: “Enough is enough. I’m an alcoholic, I’ve been an alcoholic for 20 years but I’ve been in denial. I’ve lost everything and it’s all down to the drink. I’m addicted to it, my life is one huge mess because of it.”
The 57-year-old star - who portrayed foul-mouthed Les Battersby in the ITV1 soap – admits his life revolved around drinking, which made him a “nasty” person.
He told the Daily Mirror newspaper: “I deserve absolutely no sympathy. I had everything most people dream of and I’ve blown the lot. My day consists of getting to the pub at midday, staying there until five, going home for my tea and then I’m back at the pub between nine and midnight.
“My personality changes completely when I’ve been drinking. I’m argumentative and can be quite nasty. Someone says the wrong thing and I’ll plant one on their nose.”
Bruce – who last week pleaded guilty to dangerous driving and drink driving, in which he tried to kill himself and wife Sandra as she was driving their car at 70mph – now wants Sandra to have a better life and not always worry about his behaviour.
The father-of-four vowed: “I’m worried I’m going to lose my family. It’s vile, I hate myself because of it and I want to change. I’m checking into rehab for six months and I’m going to change my life or die trying.”
