Westbrook booted out of 'Dancing on Ice'
Soap star Daniella Westbrook was booted out of a dramatic 'Dancing on Ice' semi-final last night.
The EastEnders star scored 23 out of 30 as she skated to David Guetta’s 'When Love Takes Over' with partner Matthew Gonzalez during the ITV ice skating show.
But the 36-year-old’s gutsy performance was deemed not good enough to earn a place in the final.
Instead soap stars Gary Lucy, Kieron Richardson and Hayley Tamaddon, who overcame a rib injury, will now battle it out for the ice crown.
Westbrook was magnanimous in defeat. She said: “To come this far is amazing, it’s been an absolute journey.
“Chris and Jayne, the reason I joined this show was to skate with you.”
Lucy, 28, who has appeared in 'Footballers’ Wives', 'The Bill' and 'Hollyoaks', scored 24.5 out of 30.
The actor and his partner Maria Filippov skated to 'You and Me' by The Wannadies.
Lucy, speaking after his performance, said: “I’m just so relieved, I didn’t trip, I didn’t drop Maria, I didn’t take the cameraman out. It went well. It was great.”
Actress Tamaddon and partner Daniel Whiston had the evening’s highest score with 27.5 as they skated to Bette Midler hit 'In My Life'.
The 33-year-old former Emmerdale actress is favourite to win the celebrity skating contest. She said: “Honestly it’s petrifying. I can’t explain how it feels to not be with Dan every step of the way. I loved it.”
Judge Robin Cousins said: “It was beautifully placed tonight and the one thing I picked up on was that there was absolutely no change in the quality when Dan joined you.
“It was nice and serene and controlled. You had everything right tonight for me.
“Very nicely done, young lady.”
