Winslet and Mendes 'had trial separation'

Kate Winslet and Sam Mendes had a trial separation last year.

The couple - who announced yesterday that their six-year marriage is over - reportedly split up temporarily in 2009 after falling out while working together on 'Revolutionary Road' with Leonardo DiCaprio in 2008, but reconciled after realising they were unhappy apart.
