The 51-year-old director Tim Burton admits he wanted to work on the ‘Alice in Wonderland’ movie because he had never “clicked” with previous adaptations of the Lewis Carroll book.

He said: “I think there has been around 20 different versions of ‘Alice’ and I was always intrigued because they’ve all suffered from the same kind of thing. I always loved the material, there is a reason why it’s been around for so long, but none of the versions ever really clicked.
