'The Crazies' a poor and pointless remake

Director: Breck Eisner

Cast: Timothy Olyphant, Danielle Panaber, Radha Mitchell

It seems pointless to have remade the 1973 George Romero low-budget cult classic horror – reckoned to be the forerunner of the many following ‘deadly toxins in the water turning the locals into fruitcakes’ – but somebody went and did it anyway.

Romero’s original is now largely forgotten but it is still a great deal better than this remake, in all respects.

Olyphant plays Dave Dutton, sheriff of small-town Ogden Marsh, where everybody has turned into a deranged killer, leaving the lawman and a small group of survivors with the task of making good their escape.
