A woman who Vernon Kay sent inappropriate text messages to insists she never wanted a relationship with him.

Rhian Sugden says nothing physical ever happened with the TV presenter – who is married to ‘Strictly Come Dancing’ host Tess Daly – in their four months of emails, meetings and phone calls and says she would have “s**t herself” if he offered to walk out on his family.

Speaking about their encounters, she said: “If he was p***ed he might call me up and ask what I was doing. And he would often sing to me down the phone.

“After we’d been at a club he texted, ‘That dress really suits your curves. And if we brushed past each other he’d text later saying, ‘You wanted to cop a feel, you want me.’ But I never thought it would go any further. If he’d told me he was dumping Tess, I’d have probably s**t myself. I didn’t want a relationship. He’s 36 – I’m only 23!”

Despite knowing Vernon – who has daughters Phoebe, five, and Amber, nine months, with Tess – was married, Rhian claims she never felt like she was doing anything wrong because the ‘Family Fortunes’ presenter was happy to talk about his family.

She told heat magazine: “At times I did think, ‘Where is Tess?’ But I wasn’t complaining, I liked having his contact. Besides, he would say things like, ‘I miss ‘T’, she’s always working’ which made me feel like we weren’t doing anything wrong.”

Rhian – who claims to have only told her sister about her friendship with Vernon - says she felt “sick” when she realised their flirtation was about to be exposed but despite her attempts to get hold of the presenter, has heard nothing from him.

She said: “I sent a message saying, ‘Why has this happened? Why have you admitted to things so easily? Why didn’t you just ring me first?’ But I got nothing back. I heard Tess has taken his phone from him...”

Vernon recently apologised for sending sexy texts to five women, vowing to do “whatever it takes” to make things right with Tess.
