Irish actor Colin Farrell was more interested in drinking than caring for his son, he has admitted.

The 33-year-old star – who has six-year-old James with former lover Kim Bordenave and four-month-old Henry with Polish girlfriend Alicja Bachleda – admits his hard partying got so out of control, he was constantly looking for his next drink.

He said: "There were times when I was with my son and I was wondering how long I would have to spend before I could go off and get pissed."

The ‘In Bruges’ star put his wild ways behind him a few years ago and no longer drinks alcohol, admitting he finds socialising in bars “boring”.

He added to UK TV talk show host Jonathan Ross: "Now – two hours in the pub, then I get bored. I was at that party for long enough."

Colin has previously admitted he used to drink so heavily, he worried it would kill him.

He said: "I'd been drinking since I was 14. I was pretty sick. At the beginning of recovery I found it really hard.

"For me there was no choice. It was tough but I was dying. I was struggling not to have a complete meltdown. I was just gone. I'm glad I'm out of that cycle, I'm very lucky.”
