Gaga: Concerts will be like musicals

Lady Gaga claims her British concerts will be like watching a musical.

The ‘Bad Romance’ hitmaker – who plays the first night of her UK tour in Manchester tonight – has promised fans an extra-special musical extravaganza, explaining many songs have been written specifically for the live experience.

She said: "The show is a musical, it's not just a pop show, there are lines and a score - there's a lot of music that you haven't heard before. Some of it's very old, some of it's new, there are scores specifically for the show itself.

"The show is completely different and I have some really amazing surprises, and it's unlike anything I've done before."

The eccentric star also revealed the stage show will have a city theme.

She explained: “It's still called ‘Monster Ball’, but it's more of a musical and less of a concert. It has a New York theme, it's a story, and the story is that me and my friends are in New York and we're going to the Monster Ball, and we get lost.”

Gaga also hailed her performance at this week’s BRIT Awards in London as “very forward” thinking.

She said: “I wanted to do a very, very forward performance, something that I felt was a true representation of the future. I re-inspired my song 'Telephone' into an acoustic, sort of jazz version, and then I went into a song called 'Dance in the Dark,' and I used a brand-new instrument that the Haus of Gaga has built named Emma."
