Dion happy to build career around son
Celine Dion builds her career around her son.
The ‘My Heart Will Go On’ hitmaker has just signed up for a residency at the Colosseum in the Caesars Palace hotel in Las Vegas and is grateful she is able to prioritise her family over her work because of her success.
Celine – who is currently undergoing fertility treatment in a bid to have a second child – said: “We are going to be doing 70 shows a year and I’m building my career right now around my son’s schedule.
“It’s the greatest fun that I’ve had for years, feeling that I don’t have to build a career but just try to do it because I love doing it and that the people that I love the most are with me.”
Celine – who has a nine-year-old son Rene-Charles with husband Rene Angelil – promised the show would be different to her last residency in Las Vegas, which ran from 2003 to 2007.
She explained: “It’s a totally different show. I’m amazed that every time I think that we have it… we take a moment and then we turn it around.”
The Canadian-born star also spoke about why she wasn’t involved in the Opening Ceremony at Vancouver’s Winter Olympics, admitting she declined to appear because of a potential pregnancy.
She explained to US TV show ‘Access Hollywood’: “I’m going through some in vitro treatments – so that was my choice. I’m trying to grow my family, be with my son and maybe be a mom for a second child, hopefully. That would be my biggest dream right now.”
