Daly cancels public appearances after Kay texting row

Tess Daly has cancelled all her public appearances for the next week following revelations husband Vernon Kay had been sending text messages to a string of women.

The ‘Strictly Come Dancing’ host – who was left furious with the revelations – had been due to appear on several TV shows and book signings to promote her new book ‘Baby Diaries’.

However, the mother-of-two has decided to pull out because she knows the attention on her will be immense.

Her spokeswoman said: “Tess is taking time out so we’ve rescheduled her diary, but she will be signing books in due course.”

A friend added to The Sun newspaper: “She is still furious with Vern and he has a lot of explaining to do. She hopes that now he has confessed it will be the end of it, but it’s still very painful for her.

“She has been humiliated by someone she loves dearly and the timing couldn’t be worse. As well as stories about her two kids, her diaries talk about her supposedly fabulous marriage. She knows it will look slightly ridiculous.”

Earlier this week, ‘Family Fortunes’ host Vernon issued an apology for his actions, which saw him send sexy messages to five women.

He said: "Tess is extremely upset about this and we're working through it. In some ways I'm glad this story has come out. It feels like a weight has been lifted off my shoulders.

"I've got the most beautiful family and I'm embarrassed I've put them through this. I'll do whatever it takes to resolve the situation.”
