'Percy Jackson and the Olympians: The Lightning Thief' a decent kid's film

A modern twist to a story involving the Greek Gods fighting among themselves and anybody else who cares to join in … and a lot of biff-bang fun it proves to be.

Young Percy (Lerman) discovers he’s something of a minor super-hero God himself and sets out to recover the stolen thunder bolt of Zeus and discover where his missing mother might have got to.

Students of the Greek classics might shield their eyes from the liberties taken but others will enjoy going with the action and general fun.

If there is one quibble it lies at the feet of director Columbus, never one to infuse his films with more than barely adequate oomph, who really might have drawn more from an otherwise excellent cast.
