A reminder of those 60s films where a large cast of top names came together ensemble fashion to contribute various cameos built around a single theme.

Here we have our stars falling in love, falling out of love; proposing, not proposing on St Valentine’s Day in Los Angeles.

As with all such films some of the stories – and individual performances – are better than others, some of the characters enlist our sympathy and interest, others leave us vastly indifferent.

Overall, though, it’s a candyfloss film that should attract a good audience because of its cast – if you can believe Roberts as a marine, Kutcher as a florist or Dempsey as just annoying – and because it tries to be relentlessly romantic in the manner of a house being built from the roof down.

Star Rating: 3/5
