Moss devastated by death of designer
Kate Moss is "devastated" by Alexander McQueen's death.
The supermodel was a close friend of the designer - who committed suicide yesterday - and has been left stunned by the news.
Referring to the designer by his real first name Lee, her representative issued a statement saying: "Kate is shocked and devastated at the tragic loss of her dear friend Lee McQueen. Her thoughts are with his family at this sad time. We would also ask that Kate's privacy is respected."
Heidi Klum also spoke out to express her admiration for "extraordinary" Alexander.
She said: "He was absolutely one of the most talented, extraordinary designers in the world ever. Very extraordinary. Thinks outside the box, not just the basics."
Many celebrities took to their Twitter pages to express their shock and sadness at the 40-year-old designer's death.
Dita Von Teese - who often wore his creations - wrote: "Rest in peace, Mr. McQueen."
Socialite Kim Kardashian donned one of his creations in tribute.
She tweeted: "I just found out Alexander McQueen died!!! I'm in shock! So sad! I'm wearing one of his dresses now! He was such a talented designer"
Kelly Osbourne posted: "i am so so sad to hear the news of Lee (Alexander) McQueen! i really just dont know what say im really in shock.
"i cant stop thinking about lee i am just devastated my heart goes out to annabelle nelson who is his best friend!"
Members of the fashion world have also paid tribute to the iconic British designer.
Stylist Rachel Zoe said: "I cant describe the tragic loss of such a brilliant man and designer."
Designer Philip Lin said Alexander's passing had made him more "appreciative" of life.
He said: "I'm speechless. It makes me ill. If anything positive can come out of this, we should take the moment to appreciate what we have, what we do...I love what I do, and I should be damn appreciative that I can still do it."
