Cowell digs deep to get Posh Spice onto US 'X Factor'

Simon Cowell has reportedly offered Victoria Beckham a $1m-a-show deal to judge 'The X Factor' in the US.

The former Spice Girl appeared as a guest judge on 'American Idol' – the programme Simon is leaving to start his next US venture - in a show aired in the US on Tuesday night.

Despite being savaged by critics, the media mogul is said to be desperate to get Victoria to join him on the panel for ‘The X Factor’ when it launches in the autumn.

A source said: "Simon was trying to get hold of Victoria for a few days, keen to suggest a few 'X Factor' dates. When they did finally speak, she was incredibly flattered, not to mention surprised. "

Although money was not discussed, the source claimed the minimum singer turned fashion designer Victoria would earn in a four-show deal would be $4m.

The source added to the Daily Mirror newspaper: "However, if she was to become a permanent fixture she could earn tens of millions. Victoria told Simon she needs time to think about it as she is so busy right now. But Simon is incredibly charming, so who knows?"

If Victoria, 35, does agree to appear on the show it would be a blow to her management company, headed by Simon Fuller, the creator of 'American Idol' – which will be a rival to ‘The X Factor’ when it launches.
