New direction for La Roux follow-up

La Roux’s second album will have a different sound to their first.

The electro-duo, made up of red-head Elly Jackson and Ben Langmaid, became famous for their synthesized sound, but hinted that the next album could be different.

Elly said: “I think it’s probably going to go a lot less mainstream, but it’s a bit of a gamble.

“I’m certainly not going to try and make a mainstream record and I’m not going to try and make a non-mainstream record.

“We’re going to make the record that me and Ben want to make, but I have a feeling its going to be less mainstream.”

Elly, 21, also discussed an upcoming project with 80s synthpop band Heaven 17.

She told BBC 6 Music: “We’re very, very chuffed to be teaming up with Heaven 17. We feel very luck and when it got mentioned I think Ben nearly wet himself.

“I think it will be interesting, and I think whatever we do will be fun as well – it won’t be serious.”
