Corry's 'Tracy' back for Blanche's funeral
Tracy Barlow will return to ‘Coronation Street’ for Blanche Hunt’s funeral.
The soap murderess will be released from prison and appear back in Weatherfield for her grandmother, Blanche’s, send off.
The plot twist comes after Maggie Jones, who played much loved battleaxe Blanche, died aged 75 last December after a period of illness. Her death was unforeseen and she had to be written out of the show.
‘Coronation Street’ producer Kim Crowther said: “Blanche’s death seemed the perfect opportunity to introduce Tracy back. She is released from prison especially to attend the funeral.
“The funeral itself will give a chance for our characters will say goodbye, it will be touching and moving.”
The return of controversial character Tracy, played by actress Kate Ford, was announced earlier this month.
It is rumoured she will have an affair with one of the show’s prominent characters from behind bars before making a full return to the soap ahead of its 50th anniversary show later this year.
Tracy is presently serving a 15-year sentence after being found guilty of killing her violent boyfriend Charlie Stubbs (Bill Ward).
She also has a daughter, Amy with now happily married landlord Steve McDonald (Simon Gregson) in the show.
