Mirren hates working with hubby

Dame Helen Mirren hates working with her director husband.

The Oscar-winning actress – who starred in 'Love Ranch' where she played a madam working in a brothel in Nevada – said she struggled to work with her spouse Taylor Hackford, who was overseeing the movie.

She said: "Working with Taylor? It wasn't easy. My husband in work mode is not the easiest of people. Because of the emotional connection, I would get upset if he was shouting. I would find myself rushing, trying to mop up after him. But he did create a wonderful role for me."

Despite this, the 64-year-old star - who began dating Taylor in 1986 and tied the knot with him in 1997 – still chooses roles based on how far away she will be from him.

She told Empire magazine: "There are no rules. It can depend on what you have just done. Or, for me, where my husband is, and if we have been separated for a long time.

"Part of the reason I took 'Brighton Rock' is it was shot in England. I'd just done a play in England and I wanted to stay here for a protracted time."
