Marsh found premature-babies documentary 'cathartic'
Kym Marsh found making a documentary about premature babies “cathartic”.
The ‘Coronation Street’ actress gave birth prematurely to baby boy Archie early in 2009, who died moments after birth, and wanted to do something to help others in a similar situation to her and fiancé Jamie Lomas.
She said: “I really wanted to do something to make people aware of what a serious issue it is and how little there is being done about it.
“I’ve had so many letters from people who want to make donations to Tommy’s, the charity which funds research into miscarriages, stillbirth and premature babies.
“When you’ve been through something yourself, it makes all the difference to other people.”
Following the premature birth, Kym and her now-fiancé Jamie split up, reconciling a few weeks later.
However, Jamie believes the split helped make them a stronger couple.
The former ‘Hollyoaks’ actor said: “Being apart for that couple of weeks we realised just how much we wanted to be with each other.”
