'Post-Grad' slight but worthwhile

Director: Vicky Jason

Cast: Alexis Bledel, Michael Keaton, Jane Lynch, Zach Gilford, Carol Burnett

Cert: 12

Bledel, better known as the kooky daughter in the TV drama 'The Gilmore Girls', is always a delight to watch, though here she hasn’t been given a strong enough script to work here.

'Post-Grad' ends up as a slight, fluffy, escapist story in which she plays ambitious, hard-working student Ryden who has planned her life carefully to bring her a great job and a richly rewarded life … none of which happens.

She doesn’t get what she wants and has, anyway, to move back to her childhood home with her off-centre family (dad Keaton and mom Lynch).

In her new surroundings she faces several personal problems so that the film becomes one of where-am-I-going?

It’s not a bad film – Bledel is her usual excellent self – but it’s slight.

Star Rating: 3/5
