No big screen role reprisal for Mr T

Mr T won’t appear in the upcoming ‘A-Team’ movie.

The 57-year-old actor – who became known for his role as BA Baracus in the cult television series – has confirmed he won’t appear in the blockbuster when it hits cinemas next year because it “just wouldn’t be right” to appear in the film unless he had a major role.

According to George 'El Guapo' Roush from Latino Review: “I said hello to him today and asked him if he was going to appear in the A-Team remake. I was hoping he was going to say yes, but unfortunately that wasn't the case.

“He said it wasn't about money, because he turned down the chance to appear in the film before that was even discussed. He said it just wouldn't be right for him to be in it. If his character BA Baracus isn't the main guy, then why do it? What's wrong with the film that they need him to make a cameo?”

Apparently the actor was also concerned the filmmakers would overuse his name to promote the movie.

Roush added: “They would market the film with him being in it, and he didn't want his friends and family to think he would have some big role when he wouldn't. He told me he has nothing against the cast or even the fact that they're doing a remake. But a cameo is just something he wasn't interested in. He said he's very happy with his life right now and enjoys giving back to the community.”

However, the film has already gained a star-studded cast, with Patrick Wilson, Liam Neeson, Bradley Cooper, Sharlto Copley and Jessica Biel all bagging starring roles.

‘The A-Team’ is scheduled for release in July 2010.
