Doherty may face charges in connection with hit-and-run

Rock star Pete Doherty could be charged with offences linked to a hit-and-run which left a man in a critical condition, sources close to the investigation said today.

The manager of the musician, Andrew Boyd (aged 42) of north London, has already appeared in court charged with a number of offences relating to the incident in Hadleigh, Suffolk, in September which left a man in a critical condition.

Pedestrian Chris Corder (aged 42) was seriously injured in the collision and remains in a coma at the Royal London Hospital.

A Suffolk police spokeswoman said: “A man has today been reported for consideration of prosecution for permitting the use of a vehicle without insurance and failing to register a motor vehicle with the DVLA, following a road traffic collision on Sunday, September 27, 2009 in Hadleigh.

“The Crown Prosecution Service will now decide how to proceed, and if a decision is made to prosecute the 30-year-old man from Wiltshire will be summonsed to court at a later date.”
