Rage Against The Machine have retained their lead in the race to the Christmas number one ahead of 'X Factor' star Joe McElderry in the biggest seasonal chart battle for a decade, new figures showed today.

Despite predictions that the talent show winner would storm ahead when his CD went on sale yesterday, rap-metal act Rage Against The Machine are still in front.
