'Limits of Control' too complex

You suspect here, without quite knowing why or how, that there is a seriously good film flickering away on screen … mostly, though, you simply can’t figure it out since there appears to be no apparent story or plotline (the film is based on a script that ran to a mere 25 pages).

'Limits of Control' too complex

Director: Jim Jarmusch

Cast: Tilda Swinton, John Hurt, Bill Murray, Isaach De Bankole

You suspect here, without quite knowing why or how, that there is a seriously good film flickering away on screen … mostly, though, you simply can’t figure it out since there appears to be no apparent story or plotline (the film is based on a script that ran to a mere 25 pages).

This marks the fourth collaboration between Jarmusch and De Bankole, who plays a mysterious loner who moves from one location – the film is set in Spain – awaiting instructions regarding a possible criminal act: possibly a hit.

It’s certainly a complex and enigmatic film, too much so. Jarmusch loves such intriguingly obscure challenges but the problem here is that we don’t have enough evidence upon which to base a verdict.

Star Rating: 2/5
