Harry Potter film smashes DVD sales record in UK

'Harry Potter And The Half Blood Prince' has become the fastest-selling DVD of the year in the UK with record-breaking opening day sales, it was announced today.

The latest instalment of the wizard saga racked up 840,000 sales in just hours, with 53,000 of those on Blu-Ray discs.

John Stanley, managing director of Warner Home Video, said: “We’re delighted by the extraordinary first day sales performance of 'Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince'.”

The film went on sale on Monday.
