Tonight's Lily Allen concert at the O2 in Dublin will provide the first major hurdle for the new Luas extension in the Docklands.

The extension opens at 3pm with four new stops at Goerge's Dock, Mayor Square, Spencer Dock and the Point - home of the O2.

Passengers are being offered free travel on the Red Line if they visit the four new stops.

Some 13,000 people from the O2 tonight will be travelling to and from the O2 tonight for the Lily Allen concert.

Tom Manning of the Railway Procurement Agency said he was confident that the operators would manage the crowds.
