‘The Descent: Part 2’ a poor sequel

Director: Jon Harris

Cast: Shauna Macdonald, Gavan O’Herlihy, Natalie Jackson Mendoza

Cert: 18

Following the success of the original Descent we have the follow-up where Macdonald, having escaped from the horrors of the cave with its flesh-eating creatures, is talked into returning by a sheriff she shouldn’t have listened to.

Sarah (Macdonald) doesn’t recall the previous terrors so she agrees to the daft suggestion in an attempt to rescue her still-trapped friends.

This, alas, is one follow-up that doesn’t match the power of the original since it’s so poorly written and directed … and there is no real, gripping menace to engross us.
