Good performances outshine emotional overload of ‘Cracks’

Director: Jordan Scott

Cast: Eva Green, Maria Valevrde, Juno Temple

Cert: 15

We are in Miss Jean Brodie territory with this simmering sexual drama set in a 1930s girls’ school where the object of lust is teacher Miss G (Green) who runs the swim team, more swooning than swimming.

Di (Temple) has a massive crush on Miss but the arrival of a beautiful Spanish student (Valeverde) is the fly in the ointment, setting off all manner of dangerous currents.

Lots of hot flushes and several outstanding performances – Green in particular – but it’s all rather emotionally overloaded.

Star Rating: 4/5
