Ricci apologises for 'Ice Storm' performance

Christina Ricci was unprepared for her role in ‘The Ice Storm’ 12 years ago.

The US actress - who first achieved fame for her role as Wednesday Addams in ‘The Addams Family’ in 1991 – wants to apologise to her director Ang Lee and the producer James Schamus for her performance in ‘The Ice Storm’ because she didn’t put much effort into the role.

She told NY Daily News: "All of the actors did their research for that movie, but I didn't do my homework.

“People always compliment me on my performance in the movie, but I cannot take credit for it at all because I truly had no idea what the film was about."

The 29-year-old actress starred alongside Joan Allen, Tobey Maguire, Elijah Wood, and Sigourney Weaver in the film about two dysfunctional families who were trying to escape from their problems through alcohol, adultery, and sexual experimentation.

‘The Ice Storm’ was initially a box office flop when it opened in the US in 1997 making only $8m (€5.3m), but when it was later released as a video in 1998 and a DVD in 2000, it was celebrated as a success.
