JLS defend party reputation
JLS have dismissed their hard partying reputation, insisting their recent £6612.50 (€7,400) bill at London nightspot Maya was not them being extravagant.
Singer Marvin Humes said: “What people have to understand is that we go to these clubs and they look after us and we don’t spend a penny. They give us free drink.
“At the end of the day, we’re all young guys, we’re all single… We’ve been in between promoting singles, we’ve been catching up with friends and we don’t always get the chance, so we make up for it.”
Bandmate Ortise Williams said: “There’s nothing wrong with saying we party and we have fun. It would be sad if we were sitting indoors with a meal for one at 9.30pm watching a movie.”
The group insist they don’t flash their cash and even celebrated their debut single reaching number one in the UK charts with champagne on a two-for-one offer from their local supermarket.
Marvin added: “You were only allowed to buy 10 bottles each, but because they recognised us they let us buy 30. We drank every one.”
Bandmate Aston Merrygold added: “Marvin’s dad was in the corner with a bottle of champagne dancing on his own. It was hilarious.”
