Take That to launch new cinema screens

Take That will officially launch one of the largest cinema screens in Europe at the HMV Hammersmith Apollo in London later this month, the entertainment retail chain said today.

HMV and Universal Music Group said the band will introduce a preview screening of the DVD of their 2009 stage show The Circus Live on November 18.

It will also mark the launch of the auditorium, which has been restored after a 25-year absence.

HMV chief executive Simon Fox said: “We’re absolutely thrilled that Take That will be the very first artists to use the restored cinema screen facility.

“This very special screening will enable fans to experience the magic of the Circus tour once more.

“Aside from its already outstanding live music gigs and comedy shows, the HMV Hammersmith Apollo will become an ideal venue for major screenings and premieres, and will be the ultimate destination for any rock or music films.”

Up to 1,000 fans who pre-order the DVD at HMV’s online store will win a pair of tickets for the screening.
