Hammond nominated for children's Bafta
Presenter Richard Hammond has been nominated for a Bafta for his Blast Lab children’s TV show.
The 'Top Gear' petrol-head features in the category at the British Academy Children’s Awards, along with Steve Backshall for 'Deadly 60', CBeebies presenter Andy Day and Phil Gallagher who fronts 'Mister Maker'.
Disney’s High School Musical has also received its first Bafta nomination, with 'High School Musical 3: Senior Year' in the running in the feature film category, against 'Bolt', 'Coraline' and 'Ice Age 3: Dawn Of The Dinosaurs'.
Comedy duo Dick and Dom will host the awards for the first time. The pair are nominated in the entertainment category for 'The Legend Of Dick And Dom'.
The awards are billed as “a celebration of the very best in children’s media including television, film, video games and online”.
This year’s drama nominations include 'Dustbin Baby', the story of a 14-year-old girl abandoned at birth who sets out on a journey of self discovery; S4C’s 'Rhestr Nadolig Wil' (Wil’s Christmas List); Doctor Who spin-off 'The Sarah Jane Adventures' and the true story of German boy band US5.
