Burke beats Williams to UK top spot

'X Factor' winner Alexandra Burke stormed to the top of the UK charts today with her single 'Bad Boys', beating Robbie Williams’ comeback single 'Bodies'.

Both acts kicked off their chart campaigns with appearances on 'The X Factor' last weekend.

It emerged in midweek that Burke’s track, which features US rap superstar Flo Rida, was selling about double that of Williams.

Her version of 'Hallelujah' – released on the back of her reality show win - became the best-selling single of 2008.

She said: “I’m blown away by the success of the single. I’ve been recording my album for the last six months, so I’m hugely excited to finally be sharing my music with everyone.

“I want to say a big thank you for all the support I’m receiving, I’m one very happy girl today.”

Her debut album, 'Overcome', is released tomorrow.
