Soul queen Whitney Houston will perform one night in Dublin during her European tour, it was announced today.

The singer, whose latest album will be released on Monday, will entertain fans in the O2 on Saturday April 17 next year.

It will be her first major tour in more than 11 years.

“This is my first full tour since the My Love Is Your Love tour and I am so excited to be performing for my fans around the world after all this time,” said Whitney.

“I am putting together a great show and cannot wait to perform the songs from my new album 'I Look To You', along with some of your favourites.”

Whitney is one of the best-selling female artists of all time and has sold more than 140 million albums worldwide, with 411 awards to her name.

The 46-year-old is currently on the comeback trail after battling drug addiction.

She will give her first UK television performance in 12 years on Sunday night on 'The X Factor'.

The European tour will take Whitney to Germany, Switzerland, Austria, and Belgium.

he Irish date will be in the middle of five shows in the UK.

Tickets – priced from €76.25 to €106.25 – will go on sale next Thursday from Ticketmaster.

Her new album 'I Look To You' – which features songs written by R Kelly, Alicia Keys and Akon – has already topped the US Billboard Chart.
