'Designer' Gallagher recalls breakdancing for cash
Liam Gallagher used to breakdance for money.
The Oasis frontman – who has his own clothing label, Pretty Green – says his interest in fashion stems from his teenage years, which were heavily influenced by electronic music and trying to impress girls.
He said: “I was into fashion from about 13. You want to look good if girls are involved. I was into the old tracksuits. I used to breakdance so I was into like Tacchini.
“I used to go out with this girl called Gina Armitage, who was a beautiful lady – she’s not alive anymore – and we used to do breakdancing in town for money. I was good, but not as good as her.”
The singer is now committed to his fashion line – which he hopes to expand to include a line of furniture and art – and says he will carry on designing for the rest of his life.
He added: “If I’m into it, I’ll do it as long as I can. Clothes and music are the exact same for me. So I’ll be doing music until the day I die and I’ll be doing this (designing) until the day I die.”
