Nutini reveals debut jitters

Paolo Nutini says he was “naïve” when he released his debut album.

The 22-year-old singer admits 2006’s ‘These Streets’ was riddled by his own doubts and uncertainties as he didn’t know what direction he was heading in.

He said: “With the first album there was a lot of angst. I was very naive. I thought I was on top of the whole thing but I really didn’t know what I was getting into.”

“We were overdubbing the last guitar part 20 minutes before we had the first show of the tour.

“I felt privileged to be there but I didn’t really know what kind of album I was making.”

The singer released his second album ‘Sunny Side Up’ earlier this year and is delighted with the reception he has received.

He told Wales Online: “I’m chuffed. It feels good. It feels like I have scored the goal. I feel like I’m running around with the ball at my feet.

"It’s all quite comfortable.”
