Theron ponders making comedy

Charlize Theron doesn’t think she is talented enough for romantic comedy.

The ‘Burning Plain’ star has grown used to only being offered roles in dramas but admits she would love to show off her lighter side.

She told Parade.com: "I like playing conflicted women because I feel like we get so little of that. I think every director that works with me always kind of comments on the fact that it is quite ironic that I haven't done comedy because there is zero drama about me.

“But, I think taste really applies to comedy, maybe even more than drama. I think a sense of humour is a very personal thing and I don't know if I am talented enough to do romantic comedies. But I love what the Coen Brothers do and Gus Van Sant does with comedy. I would love to do something like that. Spread the word."

The actress also insists she does her best work if she has complete faith in the people behind the camera, believing it takes more than co-stars getting on to produce a good movie.

She said: "I really believe that the success of trying to make a good film is really about chemistry - and not just with the other actors, but the director as well. I felt like ‘The Burning Plain’ director Guillermo Arriaga and I had the right chemistry that we would take each other's hand and kind of jump off the cliff and really set out to try and make the same movie."
