Cate Blanchett hit by stage prop
Oscar-winning actress Cate Blanchett received a head wound when she was hit by a stage prop during a theatre performance in Sydney, Australia.
The performance of Tennessee Williams’ 'A Streetcar Named Desire' was cancelled, but the 40-year-old Australian actress was due to return to the stage for today’s show, Sydney Theatre Company spokesman Tim McKeough said.
“Another actor lifted the prop above his head and she somehow sustained a minor blow to the head,” Mr McKeough said.
The theatre Company is run by Blanchett and her playwright husband Andrew Upton.
Blanchett, who won a supporting actress Oscar in 2005 for 'The Aviator', is playing the lead role of Blanche DuBois in 'A Streetcar Named Desire'.
