Brown starts community service for Rihanna attack

R&B singer Chris Brown will remove graffiti, pick up rubbish and wash cars as part of his sentence for beating ex-girlfriend Rihanna.

Brown, 20, was sentenced in California last month to five years’ probation, six months of community service and a year of domestic violence counselling for the February attack.

He is performing the community work in Richmond, Virginia, near his home.

In a letter to the judge, Richmond police chief Bryan Norwood outlined some of Brown’s tasks.

They include graffiti and rubbish removal, washing cars and cleaning and maintaining grounds.

Mr Norwood said Brown would be supervised during his service, but would have to pay for any additional security if the public became aware of his presence.
