Smith set for 'Hancock II'

Will Smith is set to star in 'Hancock II', it has been revealed.

The Hollywood actor is being lined up to reprise his role as alcoholic, down-trodden superhero - the last man in the world with special powers - John Hancock after Columbia Pictures signed on two new writers to draft a follow-up to the 2008 hit movie.

If Will's superhero role is revived, the original production team - made up of director Peter Berg and produced by Akiva Goldsman, James Lassiter, Michael Man and Will - will be joined by scriptwriters Adam Fierro and Glen Mazzara.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, the plotline will "build on the world hinted at in the first movie".

The original film also starred Charlize Theron and Jason Batemen.

It is not known whether the rumoured movie will be a prequel or sequel.
