'Best ever' X Factor audition to air tomorrow

The best ‘X Factor’ audition Simon Cowell has ever seen will be shown tomorrow night.

The reality TV judge was left gobsmacked by 27-year-old teacher Danyl Johnson, who is seen auditioning for the show in front of its new live audience format, with a rendition of the Joe Cocker version of Beatles classic ‘With A Little Help From My Friends’.

After an energetic performance in which Danyl cheekily winks at panellist Cheryl Cole and gets the 2,000 strong crowds’ arms swinging along with him, the judges – which also include Dannii Minogue and Louis Walsh - stand up to clap him, before heaping praise on the performance.

Simon says: “I’ve been doing this for, what, eight or nine years? And that was single handedly, definitely the best first audition I have ever seen.”

Louis tells him: “There are a few people here who want to go back to school now because of you.”

Danyl, from Reading, is now hotly tipped to become a finalist in the singing competition.

Also set to wow judges tomorrow are 19-year-old single mum Stacey Solomon – who bears a resemblance to Cheryl Cole – who sings Louis Armstong’s ‘What A Wonderful World’, and 18-year-old Joe, who gives a note-perfect rendition of Luther Vandross’ ‘Dance With My Father’.

Elsewhere Lithuanian singing sisters The Dream Girls and female duo The Stunners fare less well, as does French Mariah Carey wannabe, Fouad, who ambitiously tackles the US diva’s ‘Vision Of Love’ and ‘Hero’.

‘The X Factor’ starts at 9pm on ITV tomorrow.
