Plans for 'Corrie - The Musical'
A stage musical version of 'Coronation Street' is being planned as part of the soap’s 50th birthday celebrations next year, it was reported today.
t is one of several events being lined up to mark the milestone anniversary in December 2010.
According to The Sun, composer Trisha Ward is working alongside the ITV1 programme’s scriptwriters to create the musical, which will focus on the lives and loves of favourite characters including Ken and Deirdre Barlow.
It is not known whether any of the soap’s past or present cast members will star in the production.
Ward’s first musical was 'Nightshriek', an adaptation of Shakespeare’s Macbeth, which she wrote at the age of 19.
Her website revealed: “She is currently writing her new stage musical based upon an iconic British entertainment property.”
